ABOUT THE COURSE
In this SPOC, we will focus on the different thermoplastic elastomers (TPE, TPS, TPV, ...) their characteristics and their positioning within the large family of polymers. We will detail their implementation, their uses and perspectives, as well as the sustainable development aspects.
Engineers and technicians of R&D, BE and Quality departments of polymer users and transformers.
This course requires basic knowledge of polymers, rubbers and their implementation.
Week 1 : General knowledge on thermoplastic elastomers(TPE)
Positioning TPEs in the family of polymers (rubber, elastomer, plastic), different families and grades of TPE
Week 2 : Properties, applications and perspectives of TPE
Properties of TPEs in comparison with elastomers, markets and perspectives, specific characterization methods
Week 3 : Implementation of TPE
Specificity of transformation processes and means of production, other related techniques
Week 4 : Formulation and valuation of TPE
Formulation of TPE, TPS, TPV, …, selection of the family and of the grade, recyclability and recovery, regulatory issues
